Ensuring stable metabolic homeostasis and high reproductive performance in breeding boars is one of the most critical challenges in intensive swine production, a challenge that is significantly exacerbated by adverse seasonal fluctuations in microclimate parameters. In this regard, the search for and physiological justification of the latest technological solutions for optimizing the air environment-in particular, energy-efficient geothermal ventilation systems-and the assessment of their comprehensive impact on the animals’ bodies at different life stages have become particularly relevant. This article presents the results of a study on the isolated and combined effects of age, season, and ventilation design features on the biochemical parameters of the blood of breeding boars. The experiment was conducted during 2021–2022 at the «Stepnoy» Breeding Farm (PJSC) in the Zaporizhzhia region on boars of the Large White, Landrace, and Duroc breeds aged 6, 12, and 24 months (n = 18). Animals in the control group were housed under conventional cross-ventilation, while those in the experimental group were housed under an automated geothermal system with an underground air duct. Biochemical analysis of blood serum (total protein, albumin, globulins, urea, alkaline phosphatase) was performed using an ERBA XL-640 automatic analyzer. Statistical analysis was conducted using a three-factor analysis of variance (ANOVA) in the STATISTICA software package. It has been established that the metabolic status of breeding stock is determined by the combined influence of endogenous and exogenous factors. Total protein and albumin levels were significantly influenced by all factors (P < 0.01). Geothermal ventilation increased total protein levels in 24-month-old boars during all seasons, whereas this parameter remained stable in 6-month-old animals. Globulin content was determined by ventilation system and season (P≤0.002), while the significant three-way interaction of the factors (P≤0.001) confirmed that the geothermal ventilation system contributes to maintaining an optimal balance of protein fractions and improving the adaptive status of animals during critical periods (in winter in 12-month-old animals and in summer in 24-month-old animals). Urea levels decreased under geothermal ventilation conditions in 6-month-old boars during all seasons, indicating better utilization of dietary nitrogen and reduced technological stress. Alkaline phosphatase activity depended on age and ventilation (P < 0.001), with the greatest differences observed during the period of active growth in boars (6 months). It has been proven that geothermal ventilation is a physiologically sound technology that stabilizes metabolic homeostasis and enhances the adaptive capacity of breeding boars by leveling out temperature and humidity fluctuations.
