EFFECTIVE METHODS OF FOREIGN LANGUAGE PHONETIC COMPETENCE DEVELOPMENT OF FUTURE DOCTORS AT FOREIGN LANGUAGE FOR SPECIFIC PURPOSE CLASSES

Abstract

Globalization imposes new requirements on the professional training of future doctors, a necessary component of which is foreign language speech competence, an important component of which is phonetic competence. In the article, the authors analyze effective methods for forming foreign language phonetic competence of future doctors at foreign language for specific purpose classes The authors explain the basic concept of “foreign language phonetic competence” for the conducted research, which should be understood as the ability of a person to formulate his statements correctly at the sound and intonation level and the ability to understand the speech of others through the interaction of phonetic skills, knowledge and awareness.The importance of foreign language phonetic competence for the future professional activity of doctors is revealed.The main components of phonetic competence (phonetic receptive and reproductive skills; phonetic declarative and procedural knowledge of the phonetic side of speech; phonetic awareness) and phonetic skills (the ability to correctly pronounce speech sounds and have clear diction; the ability to emphasize words in accordance with the norms; the ability to modulate the voice, changing its intonation; the ability to adjust the pace of speech in accordance with the situation, audience, and purpose of the statement) are characterized.It is proven that one of the most effective methods for forming foreign language phonetic competence of future doctors is a system of exercises.The main types of exercises for forming foreign language phonetic competence are determined: working with a dictionary to reproduce the phonetic transcription of medical terms; exercises on sound combinations and articulation; listening and repeating medical terms; reading medical dialogues and role-playing.Thus, the development of foreign language phonetic competence through a system of exercises contributes to improving pronunciation, developing auditory attention, improving intonation and rhythm of speech, and expanding vocabulary.
